 If you’re on the lookout for a new car, it is important to keep in mind that the price of the car does not include fuel mileage or any other maintenance cost. In this article, we are going to look at the most and least expensive vehicles to maintain

The buying prices of cars do not indicate how much you will be spending on maintenance cost. A car might be cheap but end up costing a l  ot more on maintenance such as fuel mileage, yet another car could be expensive and offer way better fuel mileage.

The maintenance cost is one of the most important things to consider when buying a new car. This is because as the years go by, the maintenance costs are what will ultimately matter. Different car brands also have different maintenance costs with expensive brands such as Range Rover having high maintenance costs.

The following list shows the most expensive cars to maintain over a period of ten years.

Most expensive vehicles to maintain

Vehicle maintenance can be quite huge check every month depending on what car you have. Over time, different cars have been tested and the following list shows the most expensive cars to maintain from the highest to the lowest.

Chrysler Sebring

Chrysler is known for making high end executive comfort cars for the few elite. It has the highest maintenance cost on this list of about $18000 over a period of 10 years. The Sebring was first released in 1995 as a two door vehicle.

While it was affordable, the Sebring had very high maintenance costs that caused it to cease production in 2010. After 2011, the car was taken and rebranded as the Chrysler 200 which also stopped production in 2017. All the variations of this car had one thing in common: high maintenance costs

BMW 328i

The BMW 328i is a great high end performance car. It costs about $16000 to maintain over a period of 10 years, and this vehicle is second most expensive car on this list.

The BMW 3 series started production in the 70s and since then, they have been manufacturing some of the best high end performance vehicles in the market today. The BMW 3 series however is known for is high maintenance cost compared to other BMWs. One thing is for sure, it costs a lot of money to keep this car running.

Nissan Murano

Our third car in this list in the first ‘regular car in this list. The Murano was started in and is still one of the highest selling cars Nissan has ever released. Most Nissans are affordable to maintain at only $7600. However, the Murano costs a whopping $15000 to maintain over a decade.

Mercedes Benz E350

The Mercedes Benz E350 has always been a great midsize luxury car. Since it was first released in the mid-90s, the Benz E350 has been known for it good fuel economy. With a maintenance cost of $14700 over ten years, it is not a cheap car to maintain. However, it offers superior amount of comfort, innovation and luxury

Chevrolet Cobalt

The Chevrolet Cobalt came about in 2005 to replace the Cavalier which had lasted over two decades. The Cobalt, unlike its predecessor was designed to be a high end Chevy than the one people were used to. It has a maintenance cost of about $14500 which is rather high for a lot of people

This huge truck can be traced back to 1983 when the first Dodge Caravan was released. The Dodge Caravan costs about $1400 to maintain over a period of ten years.

2019 Dodge Challenger

This might come as surprise to many but the 2019 Dodge Challenger is one of the cheapest cars to maintain. Sure, the car may consume a lot of fuel but it is actually quite cheap to maintain. It requires about $1000 every year for maintenance which makes the purchase worth.

2018 Chevrolet Corvette

It might also be surprising to find a powerful supercar on this list. This car is the best option for maximum performance for a cheap maintenance cost. The car however consumes a lot of fuel since it has a 6.2L V8 powered engine. Other than this, the Corvette costs about $1662 in maintenance costs over a period of one year.

2019 Toyota Tacoma

As we know, Toyota is one of the cheapest brands to maintain. The Tacoma is a huge truck with many benefits including low maintenance cost. Although it chugs up a lot of fuel, this truck costs $1270 to maintain over a period of one year. Other than that, it is a great well rounded truck perfectly equipped for off road.

2019 Nissan 370z

This 370z is one of the few entry level sports cars made by Nissan. It is fast and uses lots of technology and powerful features that make it a great sports car. Even with a 332 HP engine, the 370z is rather cheap to maintain. Maintenance cost over one year go for $1240 which is quite low for a sports car of its caliber.

2019 Ford Fiesta

The Ford Fiesta has been known for its small compact size that makes it quite a low maintenance car. This hatchback boasts 200 horsepower which is a lot for a car of its class. It is so low maintenance it could be compared to Toyota and Honda. With $1150, the Fiesta can be maintained over a period of one year.

2005 Subaru WRX

The first old car on our list features the classic Subaru WRX. It is low entry level sports car that offers the most raw and thrilling driving experience a sports car can offer. It is also quite affordable on top of being cheap to maintain. With mods and performance add ons, the WRX costs about $1270 to maintain for the first five years of ownership. It is the cheapest car to maintain on this list.

2019 Toyota Camry

It is no surprise that there is another Toyota on this list. The Camry has been one of the cheapest cars to maintain for many years now, and with the 2019 release, they continue with this streak. It is estimated that the Camry only costs $900 in one year. This translates to about $75 per month which is quite affordable.

Conclusion

When deciding which car to buy, it is important to always consider the maintenance costs of that car. A car may appear cheaper to buy but cost you a lot in the long run with expensive repairs and spare parts. Another may have a high buying price but have very low maintenance and operational costs. It is important to pick a car that will fit your long term needs.
