Ok. Don't get me wrong, Dethleffs make a very nice motorhome. Build quality both internal and external is excellent. There are obviously a few small issues but that is to be expected.
Customer Service (Oh My)
However, customer service from Dethleffs.de and Dethleffs.uk is as poor as it gets. When you are paying well over 50k for a new motorhome you would hope for a good return and a quick response.
This has not been the case from either Dethleffs UK or DE. Both have offered zero in return in this case, and to me, this matter needs sorting as it is “THE” most annoying issue I have had in over 30 years of campers.

Yes, you will have small issues that need sorting out, that is normal. But a major issue that has never been addressed, or according to Dethleffs UK, (its the first we have heard of it), never reported.
I am relieved that there were not more serious issues that needed solving by either of them.
According tho the Dethleffs owners club UK, there are quite a lot of owners who have reported this problem, and until now, none have been solved. Many have reverted to doing other things to try and solve the issue, like making sure the backend his higher than the front so that the rain runs towards the front. This in itself has caused other issues according to some.
The problem needs addressing by Dethleffs themselves, and all current and older Dethleffs with the issue as shown should be recalled and sorted.
Until this issue is resolved THIS ARTICLE WILL REMAIN AS IT IS WRITTEN AS A WARNING TO THOSE LOOKING TO BUY A DETHLEFFS MOTORHOME.
CHECK THE REAR END. IF YOUR POTENTIAL PURCHASE HAS THIS STYLE – DO NOT BUY IT.
Rain & Sleepless Nights Issues
If you are looking to buy a Dethleffs motorhome and you are a light or poor sleeper then seriously think again before you buy one. Many of the current Dethleffs fleet of motorhomes come with this issue that mine has, and Dethleffs are not at all interested in fixing it. So FAR.
There are serious sleeping issues in large number of Dethleffs Motorhomes.
This rear bike rack extends across the back of many Dethleffs Motorhomes. It causes a serious issue when it rains.
What happens is that when it rains, the water drips from the rear bike rack holder down onto the rear light cluster.
This may not seem like much of a problem. It is. The rear light cluster is hollow and the rear beds are directly behind it. My motorhome is one with two single beds at the back. As youcan see it does not have a full size garage as the beds actually sit quite low down so that you have good storage cupboards above. This dripping noise is like a gun going off in your head every time the rain drops onto it.
When I reported this matter to Lowdhams in Huddersfield they just seemed to laugh it off and call it “THERAPEUTIC” Believe me. It’s not THERAPEUTIC and, it's no laughing matter.
There are a lot of Dethleffs Motorhomes that are affected by this problem. If you are thinking of buying a Dethleffs motorhome then serious consider other options as this is the most annoying issue I have had in 25 years of Motorhomes.
I have contacted both Dethleffs direct and Lowdhams where I bought the motorhome from brand new and so far after 18 months, neither have done a thing about it.
There are many brands of Dethleffs motorhomes that have this issue from what I can see with their rear ends.
Trend and Low Profile C Class – All seem to be affected by the issue
Trend Edition Models. Still has the rear light cluster fitted in the 2020 images, but again no rear end images from Dethleffs to check the rear rack.
Trend Coachbuilt – A5887, A6977, A7877-2 All have the dodgy rear light cluster
Globeline which says “new” possibly has the same issue as the rear light cluster is the same as 2018 models.
Grand Alfa A Class – There is no profile image for this vehicle rear end
